Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actor, is well-known for her roles in film and television since the late 1980s. Bassett has been awarded a variety of awards, such as the Golden Globe Award and sixteen NAACP Image Award. Her work has been recognized for television and in film since the late 1980s she's been awarded numerous awards like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was brought up in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt following her birth in New York New York, is well-known as an actress. Bassett relocated with her older sister St. Petersburg Florida at the age of five in order to be closer to their mother as she was divorced from their father. Bassett saw James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play as she was still in highschool and realized that she was an actor and was looking to pursue. In 1980, Bassett was graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with the degree of African American studies. She earned a diploma from the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she came across Courtney B. Vance a actress who was a friend of hers. They were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree in African American studies, in 1980.
